I know that this subject is a sticky wicket and I can completely understand and respect why people will want to sell their music. For some it is their livelihood - it is their bread and butter. They do that to justify their years of schooling and experience. I get that.
I also am grateful for the knowledge that when we share our talents with others, we are blessed by a loving Father in Heaven. I am blessed to have a good full-time job, a great wife and family, and many other things. And I’m grateful to have the opportunities to share those talents which the Lord has freely given me. In my own thinking, by giving away my music free, I am helping to “pay the debt” to my creator. I do this that others might find some sort of joy in the message of my music, and thus live up to my moniker of “LDS Happy Music”. smile emotico
Beautiful sentiment, and beautifully said. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteare these songs church approved?
ReplyDeleteHi Debbie, as always, they are available for use but your Bishop has the final say. I would like to believe that the music and words are in keeping with the principles of the gospel, but they have not been officially church approved. The only approved songs are those that have won or received special recognition in the annual church music submission process. I hope that answers your question.
ReplyDeleteRick, I have been asked to sing a solo in a few weeks with the theme of Joseph Smith. I love your version with the melody of Come Thy Fount. I'm a Baritone and was hoping to download the original you posted but could not find it on PDF'S. I'm very excited to share this arrangement with the congregation. PS I was the original Zacharias in the first production of "Savior of the World" I am very thankful that gifted musicians as yourself are willing to share your talents. I hope to hear from you soon so I can start rehearsing. Thanks, Joseph
ReplyDeleteHi Joseph and thanks for responding. You can find the link to the PDF here: http://www.ldshappymusic.com/2015/05/joseph-smiths-first-prayer.html. It's the 2nd one down the list. Thanks for the kind words and I hope that you and the congregation feel the sweet spirit as you testify with this arrangement. It truly was a labor of love. You can email me at ldshappymusic@gmail.com if you have other questions.
